This fear period has to do a lot with your dog's growth spurts. They are caused by hormone development that are related to a dog's periodic growth spurts and by temporary calcium deficiencies.This fear period is not like the first fear period your dog goes through.

Fear of new and unfamiliar things plays a part in evolution. If they start to wonder off they could get in to. After the dog becomes 8 to 10 months of age, they will be allo to go on a hunt. The term juvenile flakies is used to describe what is really known as the second fear period in your dogs life.

Even though that your dog may have been more confident before and even very outgoing, your dog may now be afraid to approach someone new or something unfamiliar.

The juvenile flakies are the fear behaviors which will be short lived by your dog usually. The first lesson your dog will need to learn when in a wild pack is to learn to stay with the pack. Therefore it may occur more than once while he is maturing.

Or he may even be afraid of something that he is already familiar with.
